An external review of Ice Watch, by Chris Warner:
"This summer, fashion is all about bold and bright colours as well as colour matched accessories. There are many different styles to choose from, sourced from all over the high street, which will all make your outfit fresh and "different". We all wear a watch, and some people have more than one and so I would like to, thus, take this opportunity to explain to you why you should discover the world of Ice Watch.
As Described on the website of Ice Watch UK, www.icewatchatidentity.com the official site for the UK Dedicated Store, the brand evolves as such:
"The Ice Watch brand was born in 2007 by designers, and founders, Jean-Pierre Lutgen, Polly Yu & Christy So. Designed in Belgium, they are very high quality plastic strap watches available in a range of different colours, materials and designs. One design consistency is the use of the chromatic line of descending colours throughout every collection, ensuring there is a colour option to satisfy all. Described by Ice Watch, we are an "international, intercultural, intergenerational" watch, where we are an alternative and affordable fashion watch brand that has a strong identity, both in the UK and globally. Ice Watch has been seen as the "must-have" item among various style influentials, where we continue to put creativity and consumer satisfaction before any 'ultimately meaningless' logistics. Relaxed, yet formal, bold, yet consistent, find your colour and style..."
They conclude their branding with their slogans: "Be Colourful, Be Unique, Be Ice Watch" "Change. You Can."
After reading the extract I must thus delve into what they describe as a "strong identity". Having done some research, and finding a page on their website I can easily see that numerous celebrities favour Ice Watch, such as Amanda Righetti, Paris Hilton, Evan Handler, David Guetta and The Saturdays girlband, to name but a small few. Equally, Ice Watch is available in tens of countries. Having said that you may think I am contradicting my "unique" claim, but Ice Watch do not advertise explicitly, but instead sponsor events, and they make their presence known through their strong consumer reputation. Such examples include sponsoring a Formula 2 team, to being named as a Finalist at the UK Jewellery Awards Watch Category, losing only to Citizen, who ironically manufacture the Ice Watch Miyota movements.
I mention the girlband The Saturdays, where to note, the Ice Watches were worn throughout the music video of their new UK hit "Missing You", where the band members mentioned that they each "have their unique colour and style, where they (the Ice Watch watches) accessorised accordingly to their outfit."
Ice watches have also been seen on all of the major catwalks around the world, leading to various other copy cat brands, where Ice watch has managed to stay current and ahead of the fashion trend with their frequent new designs and colours, depending on the various seasons and other factors.
Considering their claim of being an "international, intercultural, intergenerational" brand, I have full confidence that the brand is here to stay, and will continue to rock the fashion world throughout. One collection, namely Ice World, was designed with reference to the Fifa Football World Cup in South Africa 2010, where each design had a flag of all the different countries, and their website gave a game by game match of one country's respective watch versus the other, inviting customers and members of their 15000 strong Facebook group to comment and reply about the event that eventually ended in Spain being the winners. Equally, they are definitely "intergenerational", where there are over 100 watches to choose from, some with a neon look, to others that have Swarovski Crystals on them, to the peaceful Pastel colours. Prices also vary from some being as cheap as £50, to others near £200. The colours available are diverse and each watch comes in different sizes, where they range from the bulky XXL range, at 52mm diameter to the Sili small sizes, at 38mm wide, being 100g and 32g respectively.
The colour range is fresh, current and consistent throughout, being an essential for all seasons as they offer a sky blue, neon green, girly pink and a choice from the many other colours, as they build collections, such as Ice Love, Summer and Winter, all around specific events and times of the year. There are 2 major band styles, the flexible silicon straps and the solid plastic bands, where from a customers point of view, they all make the watches available to all ages, genders and lifestyles.
In addition to saying how diverse they are and how respected they are as a consumer confident brand, such fame does come with its knock on effects. Without degrading other brands - though I am informed that Ice Watch has now taken action against them - that brands such as Avalanche, Jonas Brothers and Cobra are simply cheaper, lesser quality versions that should be immediately overlooked. From a non-biased view, also, I hear of the brand Toy Watches, but personally I prefer Ice Watch, where their more affordable price, arguably better consumer confidence and their quirky "unique" appearance gives me full backing for the brand I am writing a review for. Again, I take this opportunity to advise you that you should discover the world of Ice Watch.
Before concluding on an inevitable high, I wish to further share with you about their recent activities. The Ice Watch UK website is an awesome flash based website with regular updates with images from around the Ice Watch community, where it offers the consumer to provide their real time feedback and the brand invites you to share your watch with others. Personally, such features make the brand so personal and different to the other regular ones. www.icewatchatidentity.com is the Official Dedicated website for the UK, where I encourage you to investigate and "Discover the world of Ice Watch", where your own opinion is obviously the one that counts, and not mine.
Just remember "Be Colourful, Be Unique, Be Ice Watch"
Find yours at www.icewatchatidentity.com :) "
